"Cursillo for me was a re-awakening of my faith and spiritual journey. It was an opportunity to think in peaceful surroundings about my spiritual goal, what is most important on this special journey and what we need to let go.
It was a wonderful weekend where I made new friends, and came home feeling spiritually revived, something I had not felt for a long time. There were talks, discussions, uplifting services, fun and laughter in a very special atmosphere.
The Cursillo weekend made me realise the commitment I should have made in my spiritual life, which is hopefully reflected in my home and workplace."
Jose, Wolverhampton

"The first thing that seemed different about this particular "retreat" (it was, in fact, a short course) was the wonderful welcome we received that first evening. It seemed that we were not just to be a passive class and congregation (as we expected) but part of a small community devoting their time and energies to God - if only for a weekend. Very positive indeed, and it left me straight away thinking that this "retreat" was going to be different."
Tom, Wotton-under-Edge

"The 3-Day Cursillo 'woke me up' to the need to put Christ at the centre of my life and not to hide this fact from those around me".
Ruth

"Without Cursillo I could never have shown other people that Christianity is not something to be afraid off".
Martin

"My Cursillo recharged my batteries in a dynamic way...my husband had been nagging me to attend a 3-Day Cursillo ever since he had the experience himself...I was particularly challenged about an area of my spiritual life, as I know God wants me to spend more time alone with Him praying and reading the bible...attending the weekend has encouraged me to do something that I know God has been prompting me to do for a while such as a bible study group or prayer group in our parish".
Anne

"I eventually succumbed with much trepidation. This was gradually dispelled as the course progressed. One comforting aspect was the input by lay speakers describing their own experiences as practising Christians - no "happy clappy" Christianity, but solid practical experience.
I found the small group discussions very helpful and discovered that most attendees were not looking for or expecting an 'out of body' experience but simply to deepen their relationship with God.
I commend attendance. You will not feel overwhelmed, rather warmed and strengthened by the environment of friendship and love in which the course takes place."
Kerry, Goring-on-Thames

"When the Cursillo Weekend at Woking was first mentioned to me, my first instinct was to recoil; after all, here I was, a lapsed Catholic. At school, and as a child at home, the word 'lapsed' was uttered with the same shock horror as the words 'rape' or 'murder' would have evoked, so I was more than wary of admitting this transgression to a group of people who, I was sure, were all very devout, worthy and 'good' .
How wrong could I be! This group was one of the most fun, compassionate, least judgmental and at the same time, most inspirational that it has ever been my good fortune to be amongst. Each day, one of the team gave us a well prepared and truly thought provoking talk explaining how God had intervened at some stage of their life, to cause an event which had totally altered the whole course of their life - and consequently themselves as people. We later got into groups to discuss, or illustrate our reactions with posters, poetry and song.
The team all spoke with great feeling and eloquence of specific times and events that had brought them closer to God, and we laughed and cried with them."
Sheila, Camberley

"My involvement in Cursillo has led me contributing to other movements - Kairos, prison ministry and Tres Dias, ecumenical weekends. This has meant that I have met many interesting people and learnt many new things - both about myself, and about my own faith and that of others. Seeing Jesus through the eyes of others, and also seeing myself as others see me (not always a pleasant thing to do!), has, I believe helped me and my faith to grow".
Tom

"Cursillo provides an atmosphere and environment of trust, Christian love and most importantly the solid and practical foundation of PRAYER. Cursillo for me has truly provided the key to unlock the treasure box of (i) peace, (ii) happiness and (iii) joy that I carry now most days. It is helping me to surrender my life to God, giving me that stability and direction that I ha ve so desperately wanted. I no longer separate my work life and home life. I am changing my focus from business, career and money to simply 'God's Will' .
I now accept that whatever God's will is for me, be it rich or poor, in England or overseas, I will be serving the purpose God intended for me on this earth."
Geoff, Reading

"Through Cursillo I received the Good News. I was evangelised by Cursillo! It changed my life! It enabled me to become a real disciple for Christ. Cursillo is a wonderful renewal and envangelising Movement. We, the laity, are called to be evangelisers".
Barbara

"I find the friendship and support of a Christ-centred group very comforting. The meetings help me to become more aware of Christ's intervention in my daily life and of my need to be open to the Holy Spirit and my duty to evangelise".
Phil

"Cursillo seemed to imbue me with a greater confidence, both spiritually and physically, and give me a sense of my own worth and greater awareness of my talents and ability to share them".
Angela

"Belonging to Cursillo has helped me look outwards at other people's needs...Cursillo makes you spiritually aware that in all things we need the Creator's love and help to guide us. It gives you the courage to witness to God's unfailing love for His creation and to GO tell everyone!".
Mary
